Go Sail, Sail, Sail on Flathead Lake in Montana. This glacier fed clear lake is 27 miles long and 15 miles wide. We have excellent wind 8-15 knot breeze daily from May to October. Our fleet of monohulls 22-33ft are comfortable fun boats to learn on and sail. Pine tree filled Wild Horse Island State Park and nearby islands are the cruising grounds.
We only hire amazing, experienced, captains and instructors. We offer beginner to advanced sailing lessons in 2 day classes with American Sailing Certification for levels ASA 101 keelboat, ASA 103 Costal, and ASA 104 Bareboat certified courses.

Become a ASA Sailing instructor and Charter Captain
Do you have sailing experience with a desire to teach?
You may enroll in an IQC if you have the ambition to be a true sailing professional and:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Possess at least 3 years of sailing experience
- Have teaching experience or can demonstrate an aptitude for clearly communicating sailing to the novice and advanced sailor
- Are capable of performing to the Standards as stated in the ASA International Sailing Log Book
- Must have the 101 Basic Keelboat level or challenge the exam at an ASA Affiliate School.
ASA Instructor Preparation:
- Know the content being delivered
- Verbalize and demonstrate skills effectively and with a positive attitude
- Model behaviors that emphasize safety (e.g. wearing PFD’s, using three points of contact, using proper skills even when not being demonstrated, etc.)
- Know how to appropriately use of a variety of instructional techniques (e.g. hands-on practice, guided self-discovery, repetitive practice drills, positive behavior reinforcement, etc.)
- Know available plans for students to seek additional practice opportunities

Lead ASA Instructor – 201
Workcation and see beautiful Montana this summer with time off for exploring, hiking, camping, boating, kayaking, and sunbathing in mountain air. You can use our equipment for free when not in use.
We are seeking Instructor/charter captains (no USCG req in this non USCG regulated lake) for 4-5 day work weeks. We offer sailing lessons 101, 102 and Sailing charters 7 days a week. We are seeking bright, professional people who know customer service, and sailing who are certified or not. Flexible scheduling, competitive pay, training, and independent contractor work or employee. There are apartments, RV parks, and camping options for short term living.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Joyfully greet customers on schedule and walk in customers. Customer service is paramount.
Prepare equipment for customers. Clean equipment, Capri 22 sailboats. Keep track of all equipment and clean PFD Life jackets.
Prepare sailboats for lessons and sailboat orientations. (Training provided)
Instruct: All lessons are 2 days 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Courses taught are following the the American Sailing standard for skills and knowledge certification process.

Go Sail Montana Operations Manager
Go Sail Montana’s Operations Manager oversees and optimizes a company’s day-to-day operations, sales, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality, while also managing resources, teams, and processes to achieve organizational goals.
Overall goals:
- Treat every guest with the utmost respect and kindness including, crews, vendors, sailors, and students.
- Fill the calendar for all lessons, rentals, charters, and kayak tours (provided by Sea Me Paddle Operators).
- Give our customers a top quality experience every trip every time.
- Foster connections with our community of sailors, the health of Flathead Lake, and visitors to Montana.
- Understand and communicate our knowledge of sailing, the weather, and Flathead Lake’s resources to anyone.
Schedule: 7 days a week May 25,2026 to September 25, 2026
Compensation: Hourly rate maintenance and operations management / % of sales is paid on commission for bookings after the event has occurred.
Operations Manager’s Key responsibilities:
Sales: Respond to every lead within 1 hour of contact within business hours. Enter every contact into the drip contact management system. Utilize the phone, email, and text to communicate with guests about trip booking, trip questions, and advertising requests.
Fareharbor:
- Check the daily schedule for incoming bookings. Memorize guests’ names who are arriving and departing so you can address everyone by name.
- Check online bookings
- Check captain assignments and resources for use.
- Check email, phone and messages for leads and guest questions. Respond within one hour during open hours
- Return all questions and booking requests.
- Help Walk in guests with questions and bookings.
- Suggest and show retail items to the guests when they arrive if interested.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Use Fareharbor to analyze operational data to identify trends, measure performance, and make data-driven decisions.
Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement operational strategies to align with the company’s overall goals. Try to fill the calendar in order of expiring inventory May first, June second, July third, August 4th, and September last for all lessons, rentals, charters and kayak tours. Keep close watch on the weather to ensure safety for all.
Resource Management: Manage resources (human, financial, and material) effectively to optimize performance and minimize waste. Request commitment of staff, evaluate and utilize employee time as a resource. You will base availability on the crew time commitment.
Captain and Staff Scheduling:
- Set set availability schedules using google sheets and comments
- Manage and coordinate with staff resources
- Reschedule trips for all cancellation reasons.
Budget Management: Send Captain’s invoices to accounting to be paid. Send a monthly Sales report for evaluation.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve operational objectives. Ensure we are the leaders of the future generation of sailors and inspire new sailors to be a part of the sailing community.
Quality Control: Ensure that products or services meet quality standards and customer expectations. Manage the maintenance on the Capri 22 sailboats. Make sure every boat is cleaned before it is used. Make sure all guests are greeted upon arrival.
Vessel Maintenance :
- Prepare sailboats for use clean, check lines, tied up properly.
- Repair problems – Replace parts- diagnose problems with sailboats.
- Check port a potty on boat for cleanliness
Guest Relations:
- Check guests in who are sailing. Make sure everyone has signed the waiver.
- Sailing Students: introduce them to the Captains and each other for group courses. Help with future planning and sail goals
- Charter Guests: Introduce them to the Captain. Help the captain depart from the dock and catch them when they return to the dock.Tie up the boat for the Captain while the Captain walks the guest back to the dock.
- Rental Guests: Walk them to the boat. Give them a full rental boat checkout. Including engine starting operations, sails, lines, help them off the dock and make sure they call you 15 minutes before return to the dock and catch them when they get back. Tie up the boats safely and securely. Note: Remind them there is a late return fee if they are not back on time.
- Encourage everyone to use the porta potty at the shop instead of the emergency use on the boat.
- Follow up with every guest for satisfaction and quality control reporting.
Supply Chain Management: Oversee the flow of goods and services, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Try to sell retail items in the shop. Keep the refrigerator stocked with cold drinks and the water cooler filled.
Shop Operations:

- Water the planters out front
- Clean and shade picnic tables
- Empty garbage and recycling bins
- Adjust retail items as necessary for presentation
