July Events in the Flathead Valley
With the summer season in full swing, there are endless Flathead Lake events to keep us busy in July. We’ve highlighted some of the hottest summer activities in the Flathead Valley so that you don’t miss out!
Fourth of July Festivities
The month starts off strong with various Flathead Valley Fourth of July events all around the lake. In the major towns, colorful floats and residents parade through the streets, while at sunset, fireworks light up the night sky and reflect off the water. Also, many local businesses show their patriotism by offering enticing special deals and hosting parties. Here’s a recap of last year’s Flathead Lake events on the Fourth of July.
The Bigfork Rodeo (July 5 – 8)
Immediately after the Fourth of July, The Bigfork Rodeo, one of the most highly anticipated summer rodeos, begins. Cowboys and cowgirls compete as they cling to bucking bulls and stallions, and barrel racers demonstrate their incredible riding skills. The Bigfork Rodeo delivers thrilling, energetic entertainment every year.
Paddle Palooza (July 11 – 13)
More than 200 paddlers from around the world compete in outrigger canoes in teams of six at Paddle Palooza. The event honors cancer survivors and pays special tribute to the confederated tribes of the Flathead Valley through their opening ceremony.
Good Ol Days (July 11 – 13)
A longstanding tradition in the Mission Valley, Good Ol Days is a family-focused fair promising endless fun in the sun! There is a wide array of activities including foot races, a parade, family games, and fireworks. Local performers provide live music, and food and drink vendors are available on-site.
Under the Big Sky Festival (July 18 – 20)
Every year, country music fans flock to a sprawling 350-acre ranch situated just outside of Whitefish with spectacular panoramic views of Big Sky Country, for the highly anticipated Under the Big Sky Festival. This year, the concert will feature an impressive lineup including Mumford & Sons, Luke Grimes, and Wynonna Judd. In addition to dozens of talented country music stars performing on two stages, concertgoers can watch an exciting rodeo on the festival grounds.
The Flathead Cherry Festival (July 26 – 27)
Perhaps the sweetest part of summer in The Flathead Valley is the bountiful cherry harvest at the end of July. Residents eagerly anticipate the annual Flathead Cherry Festival in Polson to celebrate. Join us to sample a variety of delicious cherry treats and compete in games, like cherry pit spitting. Thanks to the collaboration between handMADE Montana and the festival organizers, there will be countless vendors for attendees to shop for cherry-themed handicrafts and gourmet food items.
