Celebrating Christmas on Flathead Lake
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Winter is when the Flathead region becomes a magical wonderland with thick white snow coating the mountains, pine trees, and rooftops. Additionally, numerous Christmas events in the Flathead Valley bring residents and visitors together in holiday cheer, making it a great place to visit for Christmas. These are the Flathead Valley Christmas events you should not miss:
Bigfork Christmas Village
Bigfork Christmas Village is so notorious as the most spectacular of all Christmas events in the Flathead that it has earned the nickname “Montana’s Christmas Village.” Each November, local volunteers, wearing Santa hats, gather to transform the already picturesque town into a magical scene right out of a Christmas card. The village is open from November through New Year’s Eve, so there are plenty of chances to visit and numerous events to participate in: a parade of lights, an art walk, a tree lighting ceremony, caroling, and much more!
Glacier Symphony
Classical music lovers will be enchanted by Glacier Symphony’s two holiday performances this year. On December 7th and 8th, The Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Chorale will present Handel’s Messiah, which tells the Nativity story through song.
Then, on December 14th and 15th, the San Diego Ballet Company, along with talented local performers will perform the beloved Christmas classic The Nutcracker.
Christmas at Conrad Mansion Museum
Every year, the historic Conrad Mansion is decked out with festive Victorian décor and hosts a variety of Flathead Valley Christmas events throughout the holiday season. Visitors can learn about the history of the mansion and the area every Wednesday through Sunday in December with self-guided and docent-guided Christmas tours.
From December 6th to 8th, Conrad Mansion will host the Christmas Carol Radio Broadcast, where guests will listen to the live radio version of A Christmas Carol while actors from the Gypsy Theater Guild perform the scenes.
Christmas Tea is on the 14th and 15th, and on the 19th, the Valley Voices Community Choir’s Evensong group will sing traditional Christmas carols.
Holmes for the Holidays!
For an evening of laughter and intrigue, check out Whitefish Theatre Company’s holiday production of The Game’s Afoot: Holmes for the Holidays! This clue-like whodunit comedy will entertain audiences from December 6th to 8th and 12th to 15th. December 13th also happens to be the night of Whitefish’s Christmas Stroll, an event full of festivities that you can visit before the show.
Polson Parade of Lights
Downtown Polson comes alive in the first week of December with a parade of floats decorated with sparkling lights! Members of the community, local businesses, and organizations display their creations and compete for prizes on this special evening! Attendees will also be delighted by Christmas activities, food vendors, and late-night holiday shopping.
