Types of Flathead Lake Boat Rentals
Visitors to Flathead Lake will find miles of rugged Montana landscapes to discover, but going out on the water and exploring the lake’s secluded islands is essential to fully appreciating the area. Some prefer to cruise around the open water without a destination in mind, but Wild Horse Island is just two miles from Go Sail Montana‘s launch site, giving easy access to a beautiful state park.
If you do not have your own boat, no problem! We have a variety of options for Flathead Lake boat rentals so that there is a suitable option for everyone:
Catalina Capri 22ft Sailboat – For Sailing Enthusiasts
Our twin sailboats, “Kootenai” and “Salish,” are the perfect way to cruise around the lake in comfort. They are both easy to handle Catalina Capri 22s, which can hold a group of up to five people. That makes it an ideal activity to do with families and friends! It is necessary to have some sailing experience before you charter any sailboat (find out how you can get your ASA 101 certification here). However, the Capri 22 is a small vessel, providing a great opportunity for less experienced sailors to get some practice on Flathead Lake’s smooth waters.
Check out availability for our Capri 22 sailboats, and if you want to sail on Flathead Lake frequently, consider signing up for membership and get unlimited access for a year!
Kayak – For Outdoor Adventurers
If you don’t know how to sail yet, you can still enjoy Flathead Lake boat rentals with a kayak! Kayaks are a budget-friendly option that places you closer to the water, plus they can access areas that larger boats cannot, giving kayak users a closer connection with nature. And while sailboats require considerable knowledge to operate, kayaks are relatively simple to use. Naturally, some level of fitness is necessary, and kayaks are not suitable for families with small children or individuals with limited mobility or upper body strength. But for many, the physical exertion is part of the fun!
More information about renting our kayaks can be found here.
Paddle Board – For Casual Explorers
Stand-up paddleboards, aka SUPs, are for the adventurer who is not in a hurry and wants to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. They are similar to kayaks, except you can stand, kneel, or sit when using them, and they are a little slower. Because they require more balance than kayaks, they provide a robust full-body workout.
Sign up for our hourly SUP board rentals here, and we also offer unlimited use of kayaks and SUPs with this membership.
Whatever Flathead Lake boat rentals you choose, you are sure to find abundant natural beauty and exciting adventure.
