June Events in the Flathead Valley

The Flathead Valley is one of the most beautiful places you can be in the summer. With abundant beauty and sunshine, June is a busy time for events in the area! Here are a few of the best June events in the Flathead Valley:

1. Sailing on Flathead Lake

Throughout the month of June you can rent a sailboat, kayak, or paddleboard and hit the waters of Flathead Lake! Go Sail Flathead Lake offers the nearest rentals to Wild Horse Island and self-guided tours of the island too. Multi-day discounts are available for kayak and paddleboard rentals and if you’d like to sail for more than a day— consider taking sailing lessons to become a certified ASA sailor! 2. Plains Days

About an hour drive south of Dayton and Go Sail Flathead Lake is the sleepy town of Plains. However, on June 1, this town will be anything but sleepy! Every year the town hosts Plains Day along Highway 200 (you can’t miss it!). Activities include a parade, live music, a car show, a free BBQ, log sawing, ax throwing, a limbo contest, turtle races, and more! Plains Day also features a variety of local artists and vendors if you are interested in buying Montana keepsakes and souvenirs.

3. Monster Truck Show

One of the wildest June events in Flathead Valley is the demolition derby on June 15th at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. The “No Limits Thrill Show & Night of Destruction” starts at 7pm. One of the highlights will be 73 year old “Big Ed” Beckley” taking a ramp to ramp motorcycle jump with his Harley. Plus the Kids Power Wheels race, dirt drag races, and the Montana Tuff Truck Championship.

4. Professional Bull Riding

What’s a Montana summer without a rodeo? The Kalispell Professional Bull Riding (PBR) event is the first weekend in June at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. The show starts at 7:30pm and tickets start at $12. You can buy tickets and learn more about this June event in the Flathead here.

5. Whitefish Lake Triathlon

Looking for active events in the Flathead to keep you busy this summer? Add the Whitefish Lake Sprint Triathlon to your list! The swim gets you out into the chilly June waters of Whitefish Lake, followed by a 20k bike ride along the lake, and ending with a 5k run around town. If you are a beginner to triathlons there is also a beginners clinic available with group swims, bikes, and runs to get you prepared! Sign up for the race or the clinic here
