Go Sail and FLBS Partner to Enjoy and Protect Flathead Lake

News article about sailing partnership with image of a sailboat on a lake and promotional text below. This summer Go Sail Flathead Lake invited employees from Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) on a tranquil, motor-free tour stretching from Big Arm to Yellow Bay. This sailing trip brought awareness to the recreation opportunities, environmental impacts, and long-term protection of Flathead Lake.

FLBS staff and Go Sail have worked together in the past to make a sailing map of Flathead Lake. However, for many of the FLBS staff, the cruise marked their first voyage under sail—and a hands-on lesson of the lake that they study daily!

“Sailing is a great way to appreciate this lake. I mean, you’re out there and you can see how clear the water is. You can see how vast the expanse of the lake is,” said FLBS director Jim Elser told KPAX News. “You can really have a great time working your way around the lake and trying to understand how it all works together in the ecosystem with the watershed around it.”
