Sailing FAQs: Sailing Memberships

text

Sailing memberships are not just a great way to gain more nautical miles—there are many additional benefits to becoming a member of Go Sail Flathead Lake. You can make new friends, spend time in the great outdoors, and become a better sailor. But before you join, there are some important things to clear up. Here’s a helpful list of FAQs to review before signing up for your Go Sail Flathead Lake Sailing Membership.

How Do You Get a Sailing Membership?

You’re in the right place! We make it easy for guests to sign up online. Simply fill out a membership form and submit your sailing resume—you’ll be on your way to becoming a Go Sail Flathead Lake sailing member in no time.

How Much Does a Sailing Membership Cost?

Sailing memberships can cost different amounts, depending on where you sail and what type of vessel you charter. You should also check how long each membership lasts.

We offer a competitive price of $3,000 for an entire year, beginning on the date you sign up.

Why Should You Get a Sailing Membership?

If you plan to sail frequently, getting a sailing membership is a cost-effective alternative to buying a boat. You get the same access to sailing whenever you want, with less work in between. We do the maintenance and have the boats ready whenever you need them, making it a stress-free way to sail all summer long.

Are There Different Types of Memberships?

We have only membership type available to make it as simple as possible for you! All it requires is sailing experience and allows guests to use the boats for the entire season.

  • Sailboat Membership: Sailors 25 years and older who reserve a sailboat membership can enjoy complimentary 22-foot bareboat rentals (no captain) from Memorial Day to September 15th on Flathead Lake.

How Long Will My Membership Last?

While you’re a member for a full year, the sailing season in Montana is all summer long. Every year, from Memorial Day weekend to mid or late September—depending on the membership type.

Do I Need My Own Sailboat?

Nope! We have a fleet of 22-foot Capri boats that you can use during operating hours. You get many of the perks of owning a boat, but we’ll handle the repairs.

What Experience Do I Need?

Before becoming a member of Go Sail Flathead Lake, you must have at least an ASA 101 certification.

Do You Offer Sailing Lessons?

Yes, we do! There are lessons for beginners and advanced sailors, each offering a curriculum for a specific skill level. Start with ASA 101, which teaches keelboat basics, and work your way up to ASA 103 and ASA 104, where you’ll become certified to sail bareboat cruises. There is something for everyone.

Can I Bring Family or Friends?

Members can bring guests, but all sailors need to be 25 and older. In fact, we require you to bring at least one ASA 101-certified guest to make the sailing experience safer.

Do You Offer Unlimited Sailing?

We do! Members can use the boats whenever they want during operating hours. The unlimited sailing included in your membership is a popular option for enthusiasts and experts looking to gain more nautical miles.

If you’d rather rent a boat before signing up, we offer 3-hour and 6-hour rentals on the same fleet here
