Beginner to advanced experience level activity
We are the closest access to Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake in Dayton, MT. Rent a kayak on a self-guided tour to primitive Wild Horse Island state park! We provide a 9 ft (4 )and/or 8 ft (2) sit on top comfy kayak for every guest and all the gear to keep everyone safe while paddling. Maps and all the information necessary for you to safely complete your 3 hour self-guided exploration paddle and hike of Wild Horse Island. Depart from Dayton, MT, to Skeeko Bay on Wild Horse Island where the trailhead begins.
The kayak tour is approximately two miles each way and takes approximately 60 minutes each way for most paddlers.
Equipment
We provide all kayak and paddling safety equipment and life jacket for the trip to and from the island. We recommend you bring your own water bottle.
Paddle Clothing Wear something on your feet that you don’t mind getting wet such as water shoes and bring shoes suitable for hiking. A bathing suit can be worn under synthetic, exercise-type clothing. For cooler weather wear a synthetic base layer and/or fleece top, hat and gloves. Please do NOT wear jeans or cotton clothing. For safety reasons we are unable to paddle with individuals wearing jeans, heavy boots, etc.
Gear to Bring
Bring a camera, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat are also recommended. Also bring socks and tennis shoes or hiking boots to navigate the rugged terrain on Wild Horse Island.
Water
Please bring a refillable water bottle with you. We have Drinking Water in the shop for you to fill your bottles. ***Help us save the planet, one bottle at a time!
