Flathead Lake: Events and Things To Do in May
Summer weather is just around the corner and so is the busy season on Flathead Lake! In May you can expect to see quite a few exciting, big events on Flathead Lake. Here are a few of the best things to do in the Flathead this month as the summer season ramps up:
1. The Whitefish Marathon
Runner or not – The Whitefish Marathon is a fantastic event in the Flathead Lake area to check out this May. Over 1,000 runners will filter into Depot Park for the full marathon, half marathon, and 5k on May 18th. If you don’t plan on running, cheer on racers or consider signing up as a volunteer. If you do run, treat yourself to a local beer after the race at the post-race celebration in the park!
2. Corb Lund at the Great Northern Bar
Calling all country fans! Corb Lund will be back at the Great Northern Bar on May 11th. The Alberta native is touring around the country with his release of “El Viejo.” You’ll want to buy your ticket well in advance, as this is one of those Flathead events that’s likely going to sell out well ahead of time.
3. Carmina Burana at the Glacier Symphony
If country isn’t your style, there are plenty of other live performances and events in the Flathead to attend this month. Some of the most well loved musical events in the Flathead are the Glacier Symphony performances. On May 11th the symphony will be showcasing Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” for their season finale. You can buy your tickets for the event here.
4. Learn to Sail Course on Flathead Lake
Go Sail Flathead Lake will start offering sailing lessons on Flathead Lake in May! Go Sail offers three American Sailing Association (ASA) courses: ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat), ASA 103 (Coastal Cruising), and ASA 104 (Bareboat Cruising). Kayaks and paddleboards (SUPs) are also available to rent.
5. American Sailing Performance Racing Seminar
